Games enrich all manner of university activity. Researchers study games, game design, and games' influence on society. Teachers use elements of game design to enhance learning activities while administrators do the same to build university community and culture. Creative teams use game production to master new skills in visual and audio arts, writing, and computing. Games provide a medium for exploring and expressing new ideas.
The 2015 Symposium on Games in Academia celebrates this diversity of interests. The meeting will be 2:00-5:00PM on Friday, October 23, 2015, in BL104 at Ball State University's Bracken Library. The symposium will feature 5-minute lightning talks on a variety of topics, 15-minute scholarly presentations, and a panel discussion on the role of games in academia.
The organizing committee is currently assembling the symposium program, which we expect to publish by October 9.
Door Prizes donated by Wizard's Keep, Game Stop at the Muncie Mall, and Aw Yeah Comics, and refreshments sponsored by the BSU Computer Science Department.
The 2015 Symposium on Games in Academia is being organized by the Serious Games Knowledge Group at Ball State University. Send any questions to Paul Gestwicki.
